- 先确定要讨论的问题和对应宫位;
- 观察宫内主星、辅星和四化;
- 查看关联宫位是否提供支持或张力;
- 结合大限、流年,但不把时间符号当成必然事件;
How to Read the Twelve Palaces
The twelve palaces form the structural framework of Zi Wei Dou Shu. Common palace names cover identity, siblings, partnership, children, resources, health, movement, social networks, work, property, inner life, and parents. These names come from a traditional social context and should not be limited to one literal event. The Career Palace, for example, can describe work roles, responsibility, and achievement rather than only an ancient official position.
Begin with themes, not conclusions
The Life Palace is often used to examine general temperament and self-positioning. The Wealth Palace concerns the acquisition and use of resources, the Career Palace concerns work structure, and the Travel Palace can describe external environments and movement. A palace defines the scope of a question; it does not automatically produce a good or bad result. The same star in another palace will express itself through a different topic.
Related palace structures
A practical reading rarely treats one palace in isolation. Palaces that oppose or connect with the target palace provide information about environment, resources, and action. A career discussion may also consider personal orientation in the Life Palace, resources in the Wealth Palace, and external opportunities in the Travel Palace. This reduces the error of using one symbol to summarize an entire life.
Palaces are not fixed identity labels
The Partnership Palace does not mean a person must marry, and the Children Palace cannot directly determine whether someone will have children. Partnership, cooperation, caregiving, creativity, and projects can broaden the modern meaning of traditional palace names. Interpretation should return to a person’s real context rather than forcing modern life into an ancient category.
A practical reading process
- Define the question and its relevant palace.
- Review major stars, supporting stars, and transformations in that palace.
- Examine connected palaces for support or tension.
- Add decadal and annual cycles without treating timing symbols as inevitable events.
- Compare the interpretation with lived experience and observable behavior.
